Part-Time Counselor

POSITION TITLE:  Part-Time Counselor

LOCATION: Raleigh and Fayette Counties, West Virginia


Organization: Just for Kids Child Advocacy’s mission is to create a safe community for children and families by preventing and responding to child abuse through teamwork, collaboration, and services.


Job Description: To provide trauma-informed therapeutic intervention to children who have been victims of child abuse or witnesses to violent crime and their non-offending caregivers. On a day-to-day basis you will be expected to coordinate therapy services with families who come to the child advocacy center for services and work with our partner agencies to ensure the therapy needs of each family are addressed. To achieve this, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team and are expected to participate in multidisciplinary team meetings when appropriate. Your work will enable Just for Kids to continue to provide a safe and secure environment for the investigation and treatment of child abuse and neglect.


Requirements and Qualifications: You must have strong organizational skills, communication skills, the ability to work with different personalities, and be self-motivated. You must have a master’s degree and licensed or are a certified professional in a related mental health field or have a master’s degree in a related mental health field and working towards licensure and supervised by a licensed mental health professional in your respective field.


You must have completed (or able to complete with 90 days of employment) 40-hours in training and supervision of evidence-supported mental health treatment to children who have experienced trauma (i.e. TF-CBT, PCIT, AF-CBT, CFTSI, EMDR, ART).


You must be willing to comply with all National Children’s Alliance mental health standards.


General Duties (including but not limited to):

  1. Provide individual and group therapy, provide documentation in Collaborate.
  2. Attend multidisciplinary and treatment team meetings.
  3. Attend court as necessary.
  4. Maintain licensure.
  5. Other duties as assigned by the ED


This is a part-time position. Flexible work hours, up to 28 hrs a week. Travel is expected (Beckley and Oak Hill) and reimbursable. The schedule is based on clients’ needs and therefore evenings and some weekends are expected. You must have individual professional liability insurance which may be obtained after employment.
